The Long Run 2026

I’m making prostate cancer history.

The Finish Line

It seems like only yesterday that my brother Paul convinced me to give The Long Run a go this September. We set a target of walking or running 300km each throughout the month and raising $1500 for prostate cancer research. We've absolutely smashed those goals - 878.5km and $3329 raised with Paul doing the heavy lifting on both! I'm so appreciative of the generosity of friends, family, neighbours and co-workers for this cause, which is close to both of us - thank you so very much.

Second Week on The Long Run 2026

Second week down and starting to feel it now. The legs and ankles are sore and my hip is starting to quietly protest. Before the Long Run was doing 5km runs 3 or 4 times a week and last week I managed to do 40km, I'm pretty happy with that. Fingers crossed I can keep up the pace.

I've also been taking advantage of the beautiful spring weather in SEQ and ticking off another 'hill' - Mt Edwards in the Scenic Rim. It is only a short walk, but views over Aratula and Lake Moogerah are worth the early start.

Even though it's only the half way mark, I'm thoroughly enjoying the Long Run and awed by people's generosity, contributing $777 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. My 300km target is in sight...

First Week on The Long Run 2026

Firstly, thanks to all those who have sponsored me and my brother, Paul, for undertaking the Long Run this year. We've now raised over $1500 for prostate cancer research and I'm absolutely humbled by everyone's generosity.

I'm currently on track for an averaged 10km per day throughout September, although I'm mixing it up with running, walking and hiking - though I might need a rest day here or there. The weekend's heat in south east Queensland tested me (particularly given Paul's photos of snow on Mount Wellington) - summer is here already.

This past week has been a great opportunity to remember Dad and all those mountains that he made us climb all over Tassie. Glad to say that I can still get up the odd hill now and then - this photo is from the top of Mount Maroon in the Scenic Rim.

I’m taking on The Long Run

This September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I’m giving it all I’ve got by taking part in The Long Run.

Prostate cancer is Australia’s leading cause of cancer, with 79 men newly diagnosed every day.

Will you donate today to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and help end the pain of prostate cancer? Together, we can make prostate cancer history.

Thank you. 💙🙏
