5 Days to go for the Long Run

Hi

Having bush walked, cycled and orienteered 188km so far I have 12km to go to get to my goal, should make it in 5 days!

Your contributions to the fund now total $4,377 which is truly amazing and well exceeds my dreams and expectations in signing up for the Long Run.

With over $1.1M donated overall I am sure that the effort to research treatments for Prostate Cancer will be well supported by the flow of funds.

If you know of someone with Prostate Cancer or sadly someone who has passed from Prostate Cancer then please consider donating to this worthy cause.

Thanks for all your support

Richard

Many steps

Today was the start of the National Orienteering Carnival with Victorian Middle Distance Championship race in Daylesford Victoria.

Entering M70s in some interesting tricky terrain on the outskirts of town. My course went through lots of little pits and gullies.  Mostly went OK but a few errors left me a little off the pace, but I got lots of steps in my LongRun endeavour  and I will be back tomorrow for the Australian Championship Middle Distance Event.

Day 17 - More exploring and great response to the Double Donations

Did a couple of Bush Walks in Wilsons Prom NP.  A 7km hike up Mt Bishop and then walked from Squeaky Bay to Picnic Beach for a total of 10km.

The Double Donation day certainly gave my donors and kick along and it was great to see the support across the whole fundraiser.

Will be hard to keep up the pace for the rest of the month but hopefully a few more dollars will roll in.

Thanks to everyone for the support

What a Day - Double Donations Day

Amazing support from everyone today with 9 new donations so far and still 12 hours to go!

Got to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support.

Not so many kms today was travelling and rather wet in this part of the world!

Day 12 - a walk on the beach

Headed down to the Mouth of the Snowy River at Marlo and along the coast to Cape Conran.

Nice walking trails, rough ocean and a good beer at the Marlo Hotel

The fund is sitting on $2,100 hoping for another kick along in the next few days.

day 11 time for a bike ride

Rode a few kilometres along the East Gippsland Rail Trail from Orbost.

A good way to get the kms moving towards the target.

Day 10 - biggest so far

Our last day on the South Coast of NSW and did a couple of Bush Walks in the Ben Boyd National Park and a walk / jog on the Boardwalk in Eden.

So many kangaroos on the Path had to chase them off the trail!

Donations have been amazing with $2,100 now in the kitty, such generous people - thank you again.

I have also upped my Km target to 200km as hit the 72km mark today.

Day 9 - A couple more Bush Walks

Started off at Davidson Whaling Station, south of Eden, interesting old homestead that somehow has avoided being destroyed in bushfire over the years, including the massive 2020 fire. The orcas were used by the whalers to help catch the whales and were then fed the left over bits of the whales, including their tongues.

Track was mapped as extending to the east but totally overgrown and a fail for the AllTrails app that otherwise has been very accurate and useful

Second Walk was a short 4.3km walk on the first couple of kms of the Light to Light track from the north. Had to park 1km from Boyd Tower as the National park is rebuilding the access after the 2020 bushfire.

Walked far enough to get a decent view back to the headland with the Tower.

The full 30km walk would be good but not practical on this trip

Day 8 and getting the Job Done!

Stopped off in Pambula on the way to Eden, Nicole went for a swim at the pool and I knocked off another 5km. Now at 54km after 8 days mostly bush walking.

This morning walk was the Old Race Course Wetland walk in Pambula, nice firm trail but diverted to the river bank. One large Roo and a few Great Egrets but not much other bird life on hand.

Great to see the donations still rolling in and getting up towards $2,000 - fantastic work everyone

Another 7km Added

Walked from Wallagoot Gap to Games Bay on the Saphire Coast

Watched whales in the distance and Osprey flying along the coast,

Day 5 & 6

Did another lovely coastal walk of 6km yesterday near Bermagui and then a tough short Mountain Bike Ride in Tathra this morning to bring my total for the month to 41km, so well on target for the 72km.  May be time to up the target distance.

My fundraising is now over $1,100 which in 6 days is spectacular and I can thank everyone enough.

Day 4 and going well

Went to the Pambula Gym for a session and then a walk on the Tura Headland

Fantastic news the Donations keep rolling in and now sitting $11 short of $1,000 in just 4 days

Thanks so much to everyone for the support

My Donation Target

With such an amazing response of over $500 in the first three days.

I have upped my target to $1,000

Hopefully we can make that together and help to beat Prostate Cancer.

day 3

I am blown away with the support I have had on this year's Long Run. I have already gone past $500 and only day 3!

Might be time to increase the target!

Today's walk was at Pambula River, nice sunny day but cool air, lovely conditions for a walk.

I’m taking on The Long Run

Having been on the Long Road of Prostate Cancer with a prostatectomy in 2018, chemo and long term ADT I am keen to support those the have supported me.

Last year my supporters raised and amazing $2.890 and so it is time to see how we can go this year.

Since I am currently on the road travelling on the East Coast I have kept my expectations low but would love to be surprised - so please go for it.

It’s Australia’s leading cause of cancer, with 66 men newly diagnosed every day.

Will you donate today and help us end the pain of prostate cancer?

Together, we can make prostate cancer history.

Thank you to my sponsors
