I’m taking on The Long Run

Ten years ago, at just 34, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was a shock that completely changed my life. Surgery saved me, but it also left scars — both physical and emotional — that I still carry today. Living with the aftermath hasn’t been easy, but it’s also given me perspective, strength, and a reason to keep pushing forward.

Every time I lace up my shoes and head out for a run, I’m reminded that I’m still here. Still fighting. Still able to take on challenges that once felt impossible. That’s why this September, for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I’m giving it everything I’ve got by taking part in The Long Run.

Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Australia. Every single day, 72 men are told they have it. Behind every one of those numbers is a dad, brother, mate, or son whose world has just been turned upside down — just like mine was.

By running, I’m not just doing this for myself. I’m running for every man who has faced this disease, for the families who’ve stood beside them, and for the hope that fewer men will have to go through it in the future.
