The Long Run 2025

I’m making prostate cancer history.

Day Thirty - Activity

So Tuesday of this week was September 30th of 2025; marking the final day of the long run. I am very happy to announce that with the numbers of which i achieved upon completion of the long run; I have hit 229,538 steps and 132.8kms.
It was on September 17th, that I had hit my target of 72kms, I then went on to walk a further 60.8kms but due to falling ill in the last week I missed out on 11.2kms to complete a second lot of 72kms.Β

So far to date, I've raised a total of $743.00; donations can still be made up till the Friday, 31st, October, 2025; thus giving me more time to hit the $1000.00 mark or even aim to hit the $3,000 target for the team page.Β

However as I believe there is a lot more to be achieved, I will be signing up to participate in September 2026 and so will be taking names to form an awareness group.Β

Day Twenty-Nine - Activity

So... Monday September 29, 2025 marks the first day of week 5 and the second last day of the run. I didn't manage to get as much achieved but I am more than happy either way having already completed my original 72kms; today I only walked 3.6kms, with adding this to the kms I am almost at 130kms but as I said in my post from the 28th if I hadn't have been sick this past week I would have managed to make it a lot further.

I'll be back tomorrow with the overall total I've walked; however with my donations I still have till the end of October to raise funds; so, there is still more than enough time to donate to a great cause. I also still have plenty of wrist bands and stickers available for purchase.

Day Twenty-Eight - Activity

Today was Sunday the 28th of September 2025, as of midnight week four of "the Long run" was complete with only two days left for the month. I ended the fourth week having achieved 46,587 steps over 28.9kms for the week.
It's been amazing to see the entire weeks step count at the end of each week; it's been something that I've looked forward to. Week four's numbers take my overall total for the four weeks to 218,888 steps accumulated in 127.4 kilometres.Β

I don't think I will manage to achieve the 300,000 step mark that I mentioned a week ago; as I would need to walk 81,112 steps on the last day, I would have gotten a lot closer to the mark but I hadn't planned on being sick. However, achieving 144kms may be possible with only needing to achieve 16kms.

Day Twenty-Seven - Activity

Well, what can I say other than today marks the second last day of the third week of Β 'theLONGrun'; and the fourth last day of the event for 2025.Β

I'm amazed at how on some days the km's walked can be different to another day that had roughly the same amount of steps.

I'll check in again tomorrow the total tally for week three and for the month so far.Β

Day Twenty-Six - Activity

I'm feeling much better since yesterday, and think I have finally made it through the worst of this illness.

I sat down the morning and worked out just what was needed to break even with weeks 1,2 & 3 as of midnight; I would have had to do over 25K steps just to be equal to week 3 which has been the longest week so far; hard to believe that there is just four days left of September. I have very much enjoyed taking part in the long run and doing so in honour of someone special. Can't wait to see what the totals achieved this week will be at mid-night Sunday.

Day Twenty-Five - Activity

Felt much better late in the afternoon, so was able to get more steps in then yesterday, but was also a little annoyed so had to get my frustration out. I am determined to do better tomorrow.Β

Day Twenty-Four - Activity

Didn't do as-well as I would have liked; as currently unwell. Went to bed early so didn't get my nightly steps in.

Day Twenty-Three - Activity

Today I walked to the Drs to have some bloods taken for tests to be ran; my mind was a little pre-occupied the rest of the day so I didn't get as much walking in as I had hoped to do.

Day Twenty-Two - Activity

Today was a bit of a slow day, as my arthritis had played up and wanted to save as much of my strength for a funeral I was attending.

Day Twenty-One - Activity 'WEEK THREE COMPLETE'

Today was Sunday the 21st of September 2025, as of midnight week three of "the Long run" was complete having achieved 70,184 steps over 38.8kms for the week.

It feels amazing to almost see the entire step count for the week double almost compared to the first two weeks of the month. This in all is a great achievement to end week three on, taking my overall totals for the past three weeks to 166,229 steps accumulated in 94.9 kilometres, can't wait to see what week four has in store for me and the count at the end of the week.

Just 9 days left of September; let's see if I can smash 300k steps and 144kms.

Day Twenty - Activity

Today was a slow day, at one stage the sky had dark clouds and almost looked like rain. I was very happy to have achieved 12,000 plus steps today.

Day Nineteen - Activity

Well what can I say...Β
It's now September 19, a little just under two weeks till the end of the month. The month has gone so quickly that its hard to believe.

Day Eighteen - Activity

Another spectacular day with [plenty of steps achieved as get set to achieve another 72kms for the month. Can I do it? we will just have to wait and see.

Day Seven-teen - Activity

Absolutely stoked with todays result, I've hit the 72km mark.

Day Sixteen - Activity

It was another great day today with yet another 10k+ steps achieved.

Day Five-teen - Activity

It was an awesome start to the third week of Prostate Cancer Awareness month, as I hit the 62km mark with just 10kms left of my full 72kms. Today I achieved 10,633 steps.

Day Fourteen - Activity 'WEEK TWO COMPLETE'

Today was Sunday the 14th of September 2025, as of midnight week two of "the Long run" was complete having achieved 46,863 steps over 27.4kms for the week.

An exceptional achievement so far within the first two weeks of September, with 96,045 steps accumulated in a total of 56.1kms and with just over two weeks left of 'theLONGrun'.

Day Thirteen - Activity

Though my ankles have still been swollen throughout this past week, I have been able to get more walking achieved this weekend than I had last weekend; which I'm very pleased with.

Day Twelve - Activity

Not as much as yesterday achieved but still pretty good; the end of week two is fast approaching as too is the end of the month.

Day Eleven - Activity

I can remember that I was still behind with steps today that I walked around the block just to get my steps up before walking circles around the billiard table.

Day Ten - Activity

I know that today was a slow day because it was a very cold and miserable day with lots of rain and strong winds... I had no intentions on becoming Mary Poppins, flying through the skies with an umbrella.

Day Nine - Activity

Today I only walked 3,851 steps but can't recall why this was a slow day

Day Eight - Activity

Can't believe that we are already into the second week of September, my where has that first week gone.Β

Day Seven - Activity 'WEEK ONE COMPLETE'

Today was Sunday the 7th of September 2025; as of midnight week one of 'the LONG run" was complete having achieved 49,182 steps and 28.7kms; an exceptional effort for week one considering the week which it had been.

Day Six - Activity

Due to the swelling of my ankle I didn't get as much done today, was a shame not to be able to walk as I had been enjoying it.

Day Five - Activity

After almost a week I had finally started to feel the pain in my foot, as my foot had started to swollen... the joys of arthritis and clubfeet. ahhh! so annoying.

Photo of my swollen ankle in gallery.

Day Four - Activity

Today was the first that I have managed to achieve over 10,000 steps, when I walked 10,642; a great achievement if I do say so myself.

Day Three - Activity

I did much better today with my activity, feeling much better from yesterday's episode. I've already walked 13.6kms with a total of 23,984 steps being collected.

I'm now debating finding a way to the Henty Machinery Field Days, I know for sure I can most definitely get my steps up for the day while here.

Day Two - Activity

Today I only walked 5,683 steps in 3.1km; not as much as I'd done on day one but I did come down sick in mid afternoon.

Day One - Activity

Today I walked 8,569 steps for my first day which totalled 4.5kms; the start was a killer for me as too was the finish when I tripped on uneven guttering.

I’m taking on The Long Run

This September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I’m giving it all I’ve got by taking part in The Long Run.

Prostate cancer is Australia’s leading cause of cancer, with 72 men newly diagnosed every day.

In early December 2022, my friend Derek Schoen received bad news from the urologist, having it confirmed mid January that he had Prostate cancer; he was booked in for March 20 to have surgery where they removed the prostate with the cancer being contained to just that area.

Will you donate today to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and help end the pain of prostate cancer? Together, we can make prostate cancer history.

Thank you.Β πŸ’™πŸ™
