I’m making prostate cancer history.
In memory of Rob
This September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, my son Gareth and I will be participating in The Long Run in memory of our much loved brother/uncle.
In 2019, Robert was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and after battling this horrendous disease sadly passed away in 2023. Rob, a committed lifelong dairy and beef farmer, worked 24/7 and put the care of his animals before his own health.
His oncologist, amazing nurses and our family provided end of life care and support for him on the farm, a humbling and heartbreaking experience that we would not wish for others to encounter.
Prostate cancer is a leading cause of cancer in Australia, with 72 men newly diagnosed every day. Whilst there may be no symptoms in early stages. Symptoms may include: frequent, difficulty or discomfort urinating, blood in urine or semen, pain in lower back, upper thighs or hips. Ask your doctor to regularly conduct a PSA blood test.
Donations to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and help end the pain of prostate cancer would be gratefully received.
