The Long Run 2025

0%

I’m making prostate cancer history.

I’m taking on The Long Run

I was 42. Fit. Healthy. Had run 12 marathons.

I thought I was invincible.

No symptoms. No warning signs.

Just a random infection—and a GP I’d never seen before who had the foresight to order an ultrasound.

That set off a chain of events: blood test, further testing, biopsy… and then the diagnosis.

Prostate cancer.

Doctors kept saying:

“You’re too young.”

“We never see this in someone your age.”

They were wrong.

I was told I was incredibly lucky.

Because of the type of cancer, how aggressive it was, and where it was located—if we’d caught it any later, the outcome might have been very different.

So this September, I’m doing The Long Run.

Not just to raise funds for prostate cancer research, but to raise awareness—because I want men to understand that a simple blood test (yep, no glove required) can be life-saving.

Every day, 72 Aussie men are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Too many of them are young. Too many of them have no idea it’s coming.

And too many don’t make it.

I’m one of the lucky ones.

Surgery, recovery, pain, fear—it’s been a long road.

But I’m still here. And I’m still running.

If you can, please donate.

For your dad, your brother, your mate—or maybe even for yourself.

Together, we can change how this story ends.
