I’m making prostate cancer history.
In honour of my Dad, Steven 🩵
This year as I lace up my shoes for my 6th Long Run, I carry a heavy heart. On July 16th 2025, we said goodbye to my funny, intelligent and wonderful Dad. He was a few months shy of his 59th birthday, we lost him to Prostate Cancer which metastasised throughout his body.
The strength Dad showed us over the years, and in the final stages of his life has empowered me to dedicate every ounce of energy I have to The Long Run 2025. Since Dad’s diagnosis, I have been running every September to raise awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Dad’s cancer was unfortunately found too late, in June 2020 at 52 years of age, with no symptoms and at Stage IV, his cancer had already metastasised. Over the past five years since Dad’s diagnosis, the cancer spread to his bones and most recently his lymph nodes, liver, lungs and brain.
Dad requested that he would like his legacy to be around the awareness of men getting their PSA tested at a younger age. This is certainly not an “old man’s disease”.
My mission has always been to help other families not go through what we have gone through, by encouraging the men we love to get tested earlier, so they have a fighting chance.
My heart is filled with so much love for this cause and the desire to honour my Dad’s legacy for years to come. I know Dad will be with me every step of the way. Any donation is appreciated, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year and had my prostate removed two weeks ago. I was one of the lucky ones that had their cancer picked up early.
