💙 DAY THIRTY - LAST DAY

Wow what a journey

‼️‼️‼️I made it, 150kms completed‼️‼️‼️

💙This year, it meant so much to me. It was tough. Some days walking was the last thing I wanted to do. 

But I was and am so determined that you don’t have to walk in my shoes. Please please men, get a PSA blood test. Ladies, nag your menfolk. 

💙Early detection is vital!💙

I am so so grateful to everyone who donated and supported my walk. Your interest, asking where I was up to, your comments, your encouragement, your love have all been so greatly appreciated.

💙 Can’t believe it’s nearly the last day! Well I guess I can. I’m done 😩 Walking for our men tho. 

1.7kms to go for tomorrow’s finale‼️‼️‼️

💙 DAY TWENTY SIX - 7 months

💙 Today marks 7 months without my Ian, so a bit emotional. 
It’s getting tough but I know he would be cheering me on. 

💙 A couple more donations this week from Coles and my Pilates ladies. 

💙Just over 16kms to go! I’m pushing to the end because every km raises vital awareness for the 26000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. It fuels research that’s pushing us closer to a cure. And it supports families facing one of life’s toughest diagnosis‼️

💙 So so grateful for the donations still coming in‼️

Can’t believe there’s only one week left to go. Your donations, your love and encouragement are definitely getting me over the line.

Men and their families are being given hope, answers and support when they need it most. 

💙 DAY NINETEEN - Blown away!

I’m just shaking my head. You guys have blown me away with your generosity, kindness and support. It was an emotional day as I read your messages of encouragement. 

It’s been tough this time round, I’ve really had to push to get up and do each walk. 

💙 I feel like I can power home now for the last 57kms. I am still determined that our story won’t be yours. Early detection is vital.

💙 DAY EIGHTEEN- I’m walking For You

💙💙💙💙 TODAY’S THE DAY 💙💙💙💙

🌏‼️‼️DOUBLE DOLLAR DAY ‼️‼️🌏

Every dollar donated today is doubled. 

I’ve now completed 86kms on these weary feet 👣. 

I’m seeing a psychologist to help me through my burn out and grief and I teared up whilst talking to her yesterday saying I don’t want our story to be someone else’s.

 I don’t want you to see your loved one go through endless rounds  of chemo  and radiation and hormone therapy and have to take bucket loads of medication for pain and side effects. I don’t want you to watch their quality of life vanish as they can do less and less or to see them fall multiple times due to meds and muscle loss. I don’t want you to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays and Father’s Days and Christmas’s without your loved one.

Yes I’m painting a grim picture…  I was going to apologise, but your loved one’s life matters too much!

We need new treatments and men 40 plus must get a PSA bloodtest for early detection. None of the above need be your story if detected early. You can go on to live a full and active life cancer free!

💙 DAY SIXTEEN - Snakey

💙 DAY SIXTEEN

I’m officially over halfway - 79.1kms of 150kms‼️

At this same point last year, I was less than 50kms. 

Just under 7kms yesterday and 5.5kms today. 

Grateful for another donation - sitting at $547. I’m thinking there may be a Double Dollar Day coming so if you haven’t been able to donate yet, please think about it.

💙DAY FOURTEEN - Ouch 🦶🏼

After a day off from walking yesterday I did 2 walks today, 5kms and then a 3km walk up the shops 🛒 

I’m just about back on target. 

Legs are doing ok but I’d like to chop one of my toes off‼️Fortunately not a blister, but no matter how I tape it, it still hurts😩. It reminds me of all Ian endured during his cancer journey.

💙 DAY ELEVEN- Rain

Managed to get out yesterday between the big rain dumps ☂️ and do 6.5kms locally. Then another 6kms down the river today. 
I’d intended to do the lower path but it was under water, so I left it to the ducks 🦆.

💙Rest day yesterday and then back at it today with just over 7kms. 

After easing into it last week I need to lift my game so that I can get those rest days in. 

39kms done and 111kms to go‼️

Tough day not being able to celebrate Ian today. Also remembering my dear dad.

💙 DAY SIX - Motivation

5.6kms yesterday and 5kms today. 

Must admit it’s been a real push to get moving this week. But as I check in to my page I see the profile pic of Ian giving me the thumbs up. 

That photo was taken whilst Ian was having chemo last September and I’m pretty sure it was his last by IV, after starting it in the February. 

💙💙 There’s my motivation 💙💙

If he can endure 9 long months of chemo then I can whack out 150kms. I’ve also included a photo of our Camelia bush. Have only recently discovered it’s called a Volunteer Camillia. We hadn’t even realised when buying it. But how apt, when I consider that Ians life was pretty much an act of volunteering.

💙 DAY FOUR - I Won’t be Beaten

Bizarre one today. My schedule went pair shaped which meant I ran out of time to get my walk in. 

Before dinner I walked 2kms lapping my very small house and then 4.1kms after dinner. Yes every metre metre counts. 

The cats think I’ve lost the plot and I know Ian would have been shaking his head laughing 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

💙 DAY ONE - Hat Back On “Still Smiling”

Off and Walking. 
Regatta Centre for an easy 5kms to ease back into it. Only 145kms to go woohoo!  Beautiful weather. Grateful for the donations coming in.

The month of September is “The Long Run”, raising money for prostate cancer. Last year you all blew me away with the amount I raised which is why I increased my walk from 72km within the month to 100km.

                      💙This year I’m walking 150km!💙

 Will you help me again? Too many men and their families are affected by this. I don’t want my story to be your story.

I literally do not know how I have got through the last 6 months without my Chookie by my side. Whilst we’d learnt on the Monday that Ian’s passing would be expected, it was completely unexpected that he would leave us 2 days later.

Only God’s strength and my most amazing friends and family have got me through. Every message written after I posted of Ian’s passing meant so much to me. Your love, care and kindness brings me to tears. I don’t know how I can ever express my gratitude enough. You all know who you are, each helping in your own individual way. Forever grateful.

This September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I’m giving it all I’ve got by taking part in The Long Run.

Prostate cancer is Australia’s leading cause of cancer, with 72 men newly diagnosed every day.

Ian was one of those men, and devastatingly is no longer with us.
