The Long Run 2026

I’m making prostate cancer history.

Days 26-30 Finale!

A huge thank you to all who supported me and my fundraising. Am thrilled to have completed so many kms and to know $$ raised will go to such an important cause.

Days 18-25 forced slow down :(

Unplanned bicycle repairs and flareup of hip bursitis slowed me down this week. Thankfully I was already past my target of 72km. Now getting back to normal. Bike up and running and walking is much less painful (anti-inflammatory gel and oral pain relief are wonderful things). I was away from home and with pain restricting walking, it was great to have access to a stationary bike. The cycling movement does not aggravate the bursitis.Β

Day 14-16 Just over half way through the month

Thank you everyone for your support. I'm thrilled to have raised so much and it's only half way through September! Please consider sharing the link to my fundraising page with your friends. Total fundraising from participants The Long Run is approaching $980 000. It would be awesome to reach $1 000 000 to continue funding research and support. Β

Days 12-13 99km

Nearly half way through September. 99kms down, $975 up. Next distance target? You tell me :) Can you help me raise at least $1000?Β
Bike is getting some TLC today.Β

Day 11 Targets reached! - will you help me raise the bar??!

Thank you to everyone who's supported my fundraising efforts for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. I'm super excited to have exceed my (twice revised!) Β fundraising target and today learned I've passed my distance target of 72km.Β

Day 10 Early Edition. $1 = $2 today!

Every day, 72 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer.Β If you've been thinking about supporting my fundraising, September 10 is the day to do it! From 8am, #TheLongRun partners Telix and Tyrepower will match $75,000. Every dollar becomes 2 - going straight toward research, awareness and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.Β

Days 5-8 weekends and other stuff

Slowed down a bit these last few days. Socialising! Also some time desk-bound , but hopefully all tech issues soon resolved and I can focus more on kms. Thank you to my generous sponsors. I've exceed my fundraising targets. Yes, plural. Revised twice!. Very happy to be well on target for distance.Β

Days 3 - 4 Things are hotting up!!

Temperature, kms and donations are all increasing! Thank you all for your support.Β

Day 2 More sunshine, kms and $$!

Thankful for more glorious sunshine in which to walk and cycle. Especially thankful for generous sponsorship which has already surpassed my original goal $. So I’ve raised the bar! Twice!! New $ goal. Here’s hoping to pass that too!

Day 1 and I'm off and running! (well, maybe not running)

Gorgeous weather for a bike ride. As it's Tuesday, I rode to the gym (parking there is difficult) and joined others at Cycle class. My newly-acquired fitness tracker doesn't track distance on a stationary bike, so our best estimate per class is ~15km
This sunny afternoon enjoyed walking around our neighbourhood.Β
Day 1 stats are coming together and I'm happy with my first effort. Tracker keeps sending me encouraging messages!.Β
You may know I'm walker and bike rider. But a runner? Eh, I'll leave that to others :)Β
Thanks for your support!!

woohoo! Exciting news!

It's August 31. Tomorrow is Day 1 of my challenge. Why am I so excited? Because thanks to incredibly generous people I've almost reached my fundraising goal. That doesn't mean the end to donations. It just means together we'll hit the $ goal and keep going! Might also mean I need to up my distance goal.... Stay tuned!

I’m taking on The Long Run

This September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I’m giving it all I’ve got by taking part in The Long Run.

I’m taking part because prostate cancer feels personal to me. My partner, children and some of my closest friends are male and I have friends who have experienced prostate cancer. It has an impact on men and those who love them.Β

Prostate cancer is Australia’s leading cause of cancer, with 79 men newly diagnosed every day.

Will you donate today to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and help end the pain of prostate cancer? Together, we can make prostate cancer history.

Thank you.Β πŸ’™πŸ™
