The Long Run 2025

I’m making prostate cancer history.

Into the home stretch

Everything seems to be on track for a good finish this week.  I had considered the round trip (walk) to the local shopping centre but I’m not too sure.  Maybe better to stick to the doable 1.5km circuit I have been using, and besides, the days are warming up a bit now.  Shorter is better.

Other than that I’ve really got bugger all to day.  It’s been an honour representing my sponsors … you … throughout this month and I will thank you again for your generosity and support for the Prostate Cancer Council.

Take care and I’ll let you know when I’ve finished my end of the deal and clocked up 30km.  I’m hoping about Thursday,

I’m taking on The Long Run/walk

This September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, I’m giving it all I’ve got by taking part in The Long Run.  Well, I’m not exactly running but I’ll walk it.

Prostate cancer is Australia’s leading cause of cancer, with 72 men newly diagnosed every day.  I was one of those men diagnosed in early 2024.  Unfortunately I was diagnosed stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer that had spread and was determined incurable.  Under the care of brilliant medical and radiation oncologists and staff at the SCUH (Adem Crosby Centre) my cancer, albeit incurable, is now being controlled and monitored closely as my treatment continues.  Whilst I understand that there is no cure, at the moment, I also understand that research may well discover ‘something’ in the near future that might just move incurable prostate cancer from the controlled and life prolongation spectre to that of cured.  That may come too late for me but just in time for those who will certainly follow in my footsteps.  And that is why I want my footsteps during September to count.

Will you donate today to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and help end the pain of prostate cancer? Together, we can make prostate cancer history.

Thank you. 💙🙏

Thank you to my sponsors

Keep fighting Jock, you always were a Warrior old mate. I attended a reunion of work mates from the 70s & 80s on the weekend. Sadly 2 mates told my of their war stories re Prostate Cancer. I haven't been sleeping well since. Blood test yesterday. I hope you've still got my phone number? CC
