I’m making prostate cancer history.
We're taking on The Long Run
In January of this year, we got the life changing news that our wonderful Dad had been diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer. To say that this was one of the hardest things that our family had ever heard would be an understatement.
We were blessed with the greatest dad that we could've ever asked for - not a school assembly or dance concert was missed, not a birthday or special occasion went uncelebrated, not a day went by where he didn't tell us that he loved us. We grew up always feeling loved & being told that we made him proud.
He's the first person we call when we need something explained to us without judgement, when we have a flat tyre, when we have news to share (both good & bad), or when we need no-bullshit advice. It's been unspeakably hard feeling like we can't do anything to help, especially after everything that Dad has done for us.
Nothing we do can come close to the challenge that he has stoically undertaken to fight for his health, but if we can sign up to do something difficult then hopefully some good can come from an awful circumstance.Â
So what could be more challenging than spending 18 hours straight together, walking 80km from Palm Beach to the Sydney Opera House and back?! In September (Prostate Cancer Awareness Month) we'll test our limits (& friendship) by taking a big old stroll to raise some much needed research & treatment funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, in the name of our gorgeous dad.
If you would like to support, any amount great or small will go a long way towards a great cause!
Thank you from us both x
