The Burton family is running this September to celebrate the introduction of the new and improved 2026 PSA testing guidelines and vastly improved Australian support services and international research initiatives and collaboration.
September 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of the surprise upstaging of David's locally-advanced prostate cancer to a tricky, intermediate grade (ISUP3) following a robotically-assisted radical prostatectomy in August 2016, a needle biopsy & PCa diagnosis in June 2016, an MRI in May 2016, and elevated PSA blood test results in March-April 2016 during the transition from 2008 to 2016 PSA testing guidelines.
It's been an epic journey for David, working towards his cure, dealing with cancer recurrence and managing many treatment side effects, whilst maintaining some semblance of self identity and physical recovery, learning to navigate the Australian health system, and lending support to the many other men he has met during his multiple treatments and doctors visits.
David is so grateful for his family and friends who have been by his side and the generous staff of the PCFA who have helped!!
