More than a fundraising and awareness campaign

01 Sep 2022

The Long Run is more than a fundraising and awareness campaign. So many Long Run participants reach out to me and share that being involved helps them heal from what can be a traumatic time either facing their own diagnosis or seeing a loved one affected by prostate cancer.

That’s exactly why I first started fundraising. My Dad had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and I remember feeling so helpless and not knowing how to show my support.

Fundraising made me feel empowered and was a positive way to channel my feelings seeing Dad go through his own prostate cancer diagnosis.

I know that is the case for so many of you as well.

This September we set forth on our Long Run campaign in support of all men affected by this disease.

I hope when you’re out doing your kilometres you take time to reflect on why you’re doing this and who you’re doing it for.

I know I’ll be thinking of my Dad and all the people I get to meet through my work with PCFA.

I’m proud that together, we’ll make prostate cancer history.
