Tips for conquering The Long Run
Use these tips to reach your fundraising goals. Remember, every dollar you raise will help men and their families impacted by prostate cancer. Help love go the distance!
Get yourself up and running!
Make a personal donation to your fundraising page and show you’re committed to The Long Run.
Shout it out
Tell everyone you know what you’re up to and why. Not only will you raise funds to support those impacted by prostate cancer, you could inspire your friends to join in.
Ask family and friends to donate
Make sure to let them know why this is important to you and how much their donation means. You can use these dollar handles as examples to show your friends and family that every dollar they donate counts.
- $58 can give a PSA Test to a young father in a life-saving clinical trial.
- $104 can assist us to advocate for a father and son to receive life-saving new treatments.
Keep your page personal
Personalise your page with your picture, and share regular updates with family, friends and colleagues. Please make sure you share the story of why you decided to take part in The Long Run. If there is a special man whom you are running for, then talk about it. Your connection to the prostate cancer cause will inspire others to show you that they care.
Text five people and ask for a donation of $30. We have created a helpful guide to help you easily choose who you can ask.
You’ll be amazed how quickly you can start raising funds because of the challenge you’ve taken on. (And you really don’t have to stop at five!)
When you receive a donation, don’t forget to send a personal thank you. Your gratitude will mean a lot. Public displays of appreciation on social media such as Facebook are also a wonderful way to remind others that you will welcome their support. Share pictures of you and your donor, or draw attention to your message by tagging them, and using emojis or even fun gifs or memes from the internet.
Post a photo
Share pictures of you taking part in The Long Run on social media a few times each week. Let your friends know where you have been running, and what the scenery was like. And of course say thanks to everyone who is helping you to keep going so that love can go the distance. We’ve created many social tiles you can use to share updates too. Make sure you check them out in your dashboard!
Enjoy challenging yourself to go the distance. You can even do some of your KMs in fancy dress, take your dog, take your family, take lots of photos and don’t forget to share your efforts on social media! Please don’t forget to follow social distancing guidelines and social gathering rules in your area.
