I’m taking on The Long Run!

This September, I’m taking part in The Long Run.

I’ve committed to conquering 72KMs to raise funds and awareness for Aussie men and families fighting prostate cancer.

Please support me by making a tax deductible donation to Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Together, we can make sure our fathers, brothers, sons, husbands and mates will be there for the long run.

My Updates

Day 20 - 76kms!

Sunday 20th Sep
A nice long walk/run this afternoon got me past my original goal of 72km and past the 3/4 mark towards my new goal of 100km. Found 2 more magpies today. Tried to measure my run leg by screenshotting my watch before I started but was only successful in pausing my tracking.

Days 14-17

Thursday 17th Sep
I’ve been clocking up more kms every day, but have been really bad at posting updates! 59kms! So close to my goal with just under 2 weeks to go, I might have to make a new goal.

Day 13

Sunday 13th Sep
A little hike over the Barton street hill for a Sunday afternoon

Day 11 - over half way

Friday 11th Sep
I’ve been walking daily but I haven’t been good at updating. I’m past the half way mark! 33km to go with more than half the month. I will stick to my goal of 2.5km/day for the whole month (weather pending), so hopefully I’ll smash past that 72km mark soon!

Day 6 & 7

Monday 7th Sep
I forgot to do an update for Sunday. On Father’s Day I got justin his breakfast in bed and then went for a 4K Father’s Day walk. Dad’s the reason I’m doing this, he did the right thing with regular health checks. As a result of early intervention they were able to take action as soon as his cancer turned aggressive and before it spread. If sharing this fundraiser means 1 more person gets early intervention, then it’s successful. Today I went for a walk while the birthday boy was at Karate and got just shy of 5km.

Day 5 - Barrabadine Trail

Saturday 5th Sep
A bit slower pace as it was a 235m elevation with kids in tow, but a beautiful 3.77km walk.

Day 4, rainy day

Friday 4th Sep
The rain this morning interrupted my plans for a long walk, but I managed to get in half an hour with only a light sprinkle

Day 3

Thursday 3rd Sep
This is what happens when you just grab random clothes from the basket. 5.28km today

Day 2

Wednesday 2nd Sep
2.99km for day 2. The magpies are out and about but not swooping yet. Hopefully they stay friendly

Day 1 done

Tuesday 1st Sep
My goal is to do a deliberate half hour walk each day to get roughly 2.5kms. Today I started out with 2.93km for the first day of spring

72km in September

Thursday 27th Aug
If you can’t donate, please encourage the men in your life to have regular PSA blood tests. They caught Dad’s early, so they were ready to take action as soon as it turned nasty and before it spread.
